“Stockholm”, Dar-es-Salaam A housing area for staff of Tanzania Bureau of Standards had been designed with solar chimneys and special ventilation devices. The evaluation found that this design was not very successful, and normal cross ventilaton could not be efficiently used due to the dense urban pattern and privacy problems. Youth Club, Tunisia Outdoor and indoor climate measurements during operation showed that the building design was suitable for the hot-arid climate. However, a 'bad' user behaviour decreased the efficiency of the climatic design, and it was concluded that more information and training of the managers and users were required, as well as more adapted devices for user operation.
